The WP Social SEO Booster Pro is Now the WP Social SEO Pro Plugin

More than just a name change, this has been a long time coming.  Ever since we first released the SEO Booster in June of 2012 we knew it was a cutting edge and powerful SEO plugin and for quite some time we have recognized that the Social SEO Booster Pro is more than an SEO “booster”.  The plugin is a highly sophisticated and functional SEO and Social Media Optimization plugin for WordPress.  One which we consider to be essential for every WordPress website owner. With that in mind, we have now renamed the WP Social SEO Booster Pro plugin to the “WP Social SEO Pro” plugin.   Critical SEO and Social Media Optimizations The Social SEO Pro Plugin comes with several key optimizations and integrations which are critical to your WordPress website’s SEO and Social Media Optimizations.  It is important to note that Social Media Signals and how they are shared across all the different Social platforms (Facebook, Google Plus, Twitter, LinkedIN, Pinterest) can make or break your SEO.  As of last Summer it was already noted by SearchMetrics and MOZ that Social Media Signals dominate the top ranking factors for Google Search.  Along with that, Google has now attributed more ranking factors to Schema.org Rich Snippet Microdata through in-depth “Article” attributes, Authorship, AuthorRank, Reviews, Videos, and much, much more.  The WP Social SEO Pro plugin takes care of all this and it goes above and beyond what other “SEO” plugins do.   Why Do I Need a Social SEO Plugin for My Site? This is probably one of the most common questions we receive.  Why do I need...

How to Avoid Google’s New Rich Snippets Manual Penalty

Last week Google started enacting a new manual penalty for Rich Snippet SPAM.  Now for just using Rich Snippets, but for those websites which are blatantly abusing the system so to speak.  The question in most people’s minds is:  What constitutes Rich Snippet SPAM and how can I avoid getting myself and my website into trouble? The update is aimed to target websites that use rich snippets in a black-hat, spammy manner. But the exact factors triggering the new penalty are not yet known. And as lots of our plugin users send us worried emails, asking if their sites can get de-ranked by mistake (because they don’t know how to manage rich snippets properly), we put together this quick check list to make sure your rich snippets are in order.   What are Rich Snippets? Rich Snippets are enhanced displays of web page results, including images and other extra information about the website. As Google puts it, “rich snippets are designed to summarize the content of a page in a way that makes it even easier for users to understand what the page is about in our search results.”  Some people call this Schema, microdata, and even Google calls it Structured Data as well. Obviously this extended information is likely to attract attention and stimulate higher click-through rates. Thus if you haven’t already heard of rich snippets or incorporated them in your site, you’re missing a great chance to attract extra organic traffic.   What Data Gets Into Rich Snippets? There are types of rich snippets you can use, depending on the type of your site’s content. These types...

Google Authorship Changes and How it Affects You

In October Matt Cutts from Google announced there would be some radical changes to how Authorship is shown in the Search Results.  This is important to note since we have received some queries from SEO Booster users asking why their Author Photo and other information is no longer being displayed in Google Search.  I have personally seen the same thing, but there is a reason for it and its NOT because Authorship isn’t working and it is NOT because the SEO Booster is not working.  Read below. In December many of us noticed this drastic and almost instant change implemented by Google for Authorship in Search. For example, this side-by-side before and after SERPs comparison for the same query, posted by Cyrus Shepard on Google+: Further evidence that this change is underway can be seen in this screen cap from the new Moz Google Features Graph. It shows the amount of Google Authorship snippets showing in the SERPs for the past 30 days (up to 18 December 2013). As you can see, it appears Authorship snippets started to decline around the beginning of December, then took a nose dive around the 12th, and after a couple of days of leveling off, have taken another plunge. It’s true that if you look at the scale of the graph it’s only about a 3% reduction overall so far, but given that Authorship has been pretty steady in the SERPs for a long time, that’s still a significant change. Reduction in Authorship in SERPs Was Promised by Google In his keynote speech at Pubcon Las Vegas this past October, Google’s Matt Cutts said that they...

Video SEO Plugins Compared: Yoast Video SEO vs SEO Booster Pro

While most will agree that the Yoast WordPress SEO Plugin is the best SEO Plugin for your WordPress blog (and we agree), there might be some things to think about when comparing Yoast’s Video SEO Plugin to our very own WP Social SEO Booster Pro Plugin (which will be renamed to just the WP Social SEO Plugin shortly).   While we love Yoast’s work, we have done a huge amount of testing on the use and lack of use of Video Sitemaps for websites and how it reflects on Search Engine Optimization (SEO).  What we have tested is the effect of using a Video Sitemap versus simply using Schema.org Video Object Markup (which Google fully supports).  We have also used them together as well. Simply put, we have seen the exact same results from simply using Schema.org Video Object markup (Microdata) on our sites. Does this mean we think you should not use Video Sitemaps?  No.  We believe that any time you can submit information directly to Google about your site via a Sitemap, it will be beneficial.  That being said, right now we are seeing no difference between the 2, but we also are seeing almost immediate indexing and displaying of the Video Thumbnail next to our listings in Google. For Example, on our Deals Plugin Page, we are only using the Schema.org Video Object Markup.  If you do a Google Search for “social deals engine” you will see that our Social Deals Engine Plugin page displays right below the YouTube listing for the Video almost identically with the Video Thumbnail showing next to it. As you can...

Social Media Optimization (SMO) Testing Tool: Is Your Site Optimized?

Is your website or blog Social Media Optimized?  With the latest Google Ranking Factor reports from both SearchMetrics and Moz being released in July, it is now more important than ever to ensure You are focusing Your efforts towards a focused and targeted Social Media Optimization (SMO) strategy in correlation with Your SEO strategy.  Social Media Optimization is a requirement for Your online business success and not something which can be ignored if You truly want to achieve the highest rank possible in Google, not to mention take advantage of all the other intrinsic benefits of SMO.   Social Media Optimization Ranking Factors As I stated above, in July both Moz and SearchMetrics released Ranking Factor reports outlining what they see as the key ranking factors for Google Search and how each of these ranking factors correlate and carry the most overall weight.  SearchMetrics report showed 8 of the top 10 Ranking factors for 2013 being Social Media related with Google +1 being number #1 (no real surprise there).  But following Google were multiple correlation factors from social sharing with Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter. Moz reported: Some of the key findings include: Page Authority correlates higher than any other metric we measured. Social signals, especially Google +1s and Facebook shares are highly correlated.   You can see the SearchMetrics Report’s overall results below: What is Social Media Optimization (SMO)? I guess the real question here is, what should I optimize for my site?  Well the answer is fairly obvious when looking at the Rank correlations above.  Your site should optimize for Google Plus, Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter to ensure...
