New Product Licensing System Coming to WP Social

We have been hard at work on tons of new updates for the products at WPSocial.com, but none more important or needed than our newest creation: The New Licensing Plugin.  If You are a current WP Social product owner than you should have received this same update in Your email, if not please check now. One of the most cumbersome aspects of using the Plugins from WP Social has been the licensing system we are using. While this has always been a short term fix for us, it has also been an issue for You as well and we know it. I use the licensing system myself and having to go into the individual plugin page in the member Account Area and generate a license code is a very tedious process.  Well that is about to change. We wanted to create something better for You while still keeping a high level of security on our products and we think we have done that and then some. We initially looked at emulating the WooThemes licensing setup which requires you to install the WooThemes Updater plugin on your blog and then input a product license for each item you purchase. After looking hard at this, we felt we could do it one better. Instead of simply creating a plugin where you now have to input a bunch of license codes, we set our New Licensing Plugin up where you only have to input Your Personal License Key for Your Account at WPSocial.com one time. The plugin then communicates with WPSocial.com and Your Account and it will identify each product You have...

Social Media Optimization (SMO) Testing Tool: Is Your Site Optimized?

Is your website or blog Social Media Optimized?  With the latest Google Ranking Factor reports from both SearchMetrics and Moz being released in July, it is now more important than ever to ensure You are focusing Your efforts towards a focused and targeted Social Media Optimization (SMO) strategy in correlation with Your SEO strategy.  Social Media Optimization is a requirement for Your online business success and not something which can be ignored if You truly want to achieve the highest rank possible in Google, not to mention take advantage of all the other intrinsic benefits of SMO.   Social Media Optimization Ranking Factors As I stated above, in July both Moz and SearchMetrics released Ranking Factor reports outlining what they see as the key ranking factors for Google Search and how each of these ranking factors correlate and carry the most overall weight.  SearchMetrics report showed 8 of the top 10 Ranking factors for 2013 being Social Media related with Google +1 being number #1 (no real surprise there).  But following Google were multiple correlation factors from social sharing with Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter. Moz reported: Some of the key findings include: Page Authority correlates higher than any other metric we measured. Social signals, especially Google +1s and Facebook shares are highly correlated.   You can see the SearchMetrics Report’s overall results below: What is Social Media Optimization (SMO)? I guess the real question here is, what should I optimize for my site?  Well the answer is fairly obvious when looking at the Rank correlations above.  Your site should optimize for Google Plus, Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter to ensure...

5 Social Media Optimization Tips for Better Search Ranking and Traffic

Social Media Optimization or SMO isn’t as well defined of a discipline as Search Engine Optimization (SEO) due to how many different ways this type of optimization can be perceived.  With Google now defining and dedicating part of their search algorithm to the value of social sharing, as website owners we now must now not only focus our SEO efforts differently then in the past, we now have to dedicate ourselves to optimizing our SEO Strategy a little bit differently then we may have previously. Google now wants us to focus our efforts on creating high quality content which provides value to our site visitors.  They use several methods to determine quality, but social sharing is now a big part of it along with a few other new algorithm changes.  By combining good content users want to read, share, and link to with a solid social media optimization strategy; you can find yourself reaping the benefits with higher Google Search Rankings and a huge boost in website traffic. Here are a few Social Media Optimization Tips you can use to do this right now.   1.  Establish and Use Google Authorship for Increased Google Author Rank Google Authorship isn’t new, but what is new is the increased influence it has in search.  More and more Google is using these tools to modify its search results and also push more users into Google Plus.  Google Authorship is a connection between your personal Google Plus account and content you create/ author on the web.  By doing this you are showing Google all the content you create and by doing this Google then can identify and “Rank” your content....

3 Reasons Why You Should Use Responsive Web Design for Your Blog

Is your Wordpress blog mobile optimized?  Is it mobile ready?  Do you have a mobile site in addition to your Wordpress blog or are you using Responsive web design on your blog?  These questions are things you should be thinking about when it comes to your business.  It doesn’t matter if you just consider yourself to be a blogger or if you are running a business on Wordpress, the question remains? It is important to understand the world is moving to mobile and as we speak new technologies are being created to make us even more mobile capable.  If you, your site, and your business are not mobile ready then you are already behind.   Moving to Mobile It is expected that more users will access the internet via a mobile device than by desktop computers and notebooks in 2014.  This is a huge statistic and 2014 is right around the corner.  With more people accessing the internet over a mobile device you can see that not being mobile ready can put you way behind other businesses and sites which are.   There are a lot of Mobile options out there, but which one is the right choice?  Do you need a mobile app for your business?  Should you use a plugin like WP Touch Pro?  Should you have a separate mobile only html site built for your business?  While there are arguments for each and good reasons fo businesses to use these different types of tools and site setups there are 3 reasons why you should consider Responsive Web Design as your Primary method for mobile optimization.   1.  SEO:  Because Google Says...

Facebook Introduces #Hashtags: How You Can Use This for Your Business Now

2 days ago Facebook announced support for the Twitter invented categorization tool called hash tagging or #hashtags in support of Real-Time Public Conversations.  Now when you use the “#” symbol in front of any single word or connected word combination, they will now be clickable and will take you to a Hashtag generated Search Page in Facebook (much like a tag or category link in WordPress). (For Example:  #wordpress #social #plugins) With this announcement, we can already see the Facebook Hashtag feature has been incorporated (in limited fashion) into Graph Search and it is fully expected to be a full and active part of Graph Search as it gets fully implemented.  This is also expected to be added heavily into Facebook Advertising as another tool for Advertisers to segment and target their Facebook Ads. Twitter, who created the Hashtag has been using this technology for some time.  Google Plus has as well.  With the current trend of increasing mainstream use, Facebook needed to implement this technology to keep themselves on top of trending “Public” content.  Yes, Public content.  The Hashtag feature can be used by friend lists as well though much like is done between fans and followers on Twitter already.  Remember, the majority of Facebook content is private, but if you Hashtag content in private conversations you can still search and find it easily with this new feature.  I expect this to be used quite a bit in Facebook Groups where content searches can be extremely difficult as well. Today I did a small test in Facebook via the site here at WPSocial.com and our Facebook Fan Page...

Possible Licensing Issues with Old Licensing System and New Plugin Upgrades

If you purchased any WP Social Plugin before March 30, 2013 or were/ are a Profit Marketer Member who uses WP Social Plugins you may have experienced a Licensing Issue recently and this post is meant to explain why and what you need to do to fix it. Please note that if you purchased any of our products here on our site in the last 3 months most likely this does not affect you at all.  This information and issue with the licensing system is strictly for those who previously purchased WP Social plugins while they were hosted at ProfitMarketer.com. As of March 1st of this year, I left Profit Marketer where I partnered with Gary Prendergast. In mid to late 2012, WP Social products, which were all developed by Daniel Waser in partnership with me (Mike Johnson), were added to Profit Marketer’s Membership via an agreement with myself, Gary, and Daniel. When I left Profit Marketer at the beginning of March, all of the WP Social products which were hosted at Profit Marketer had to be moved to the WPSocial.com site. As of May 1st, the agreement to continue to provide WP Social products to Profit Marketer was cancelled. What this meant was that all download and update locations for the WP Social products were moved to WPSocial.com and a completely new licensing system had to be created to support this. We have received a ton of support tickets from those of you who downloaded and used WP Social plugins from Profit Marketer and now are receiving error messages in your blog that your License is currently invalid....

Social Deals Engine, Social Member Lock, and SEO Booster Pro Updates Released Today

We have a lot of Updates to talk about today from 3 of our Plugins, plus some other news as well.  Daniel and the Development Team have been going crazy and have been pumping out updates like there is no tomorrow.  Thanks to current customer feedback and requests we have been able to find and fix a lot of small bugs and also add some very nice upgrades to our plugins and I am sure all of this is going to make life easier for you and hopefully more profitable too.   Social Deals Engine Plugin and Extension Updates We have finished off some small bug fixes with the Social Deals Engine and also have completed some key Extension Updates for the Social Sharing Discount Extension and the Discount Coupon Codes Extension. In the main plugin we have added a Shortcode icon to the WordPress Post/Page Editor so you can now add Deals to pages and Posts in different ways using Shortcode insertion.  We also added an image resizer which will help make your images look better when added to your site.  The image resiser will adjust the width of your images automatically, but you still need to look at the height of your images.  I highly recommend making custom images for all of your Deals so they are the same exact size.  We recommend using 400 pixel wide and 600 pixel wide images as a base and then adjust to what looks best in your theme as everyone uses different widths in their content and widget areas. In the Social Sharing Discount Extension we added the ability to...
